ASTM A252 Grade 3 steel pipe

ASTM A252 Grade 3

ASTM A252 Grade 3 pipes are each used under different application circumstances. Welding processes are used to create the pipes. In the piling application, A252 Steel Piling Pipe is employed. The material is sturdy, corrosion-resistant, and resistant to wear and tear. Welded pipes are created using electric resistance welding, LSAW, and other welding techniques.

The chemical makeup of ASTM A252 Grade 3 Piling Pipe includes carbon, silicon, manganese, phosphorus, sulfur, and nitrogen. The pipes are used in water, gas, oil, construction, and piling activities to convey low-pressure liquids.

Applications of ASTM A252 Grade 3 Piling Pipe

ASTM A252 Grade 3 pipe piling is most commonly used for large-diameter applications. The cylindrical design of the pipe is ideal for bearing weight and can be used in a variety of settings, including buildings, retaining walls, and other structures. The pipe is also suitable for use in deep distances and at large diameters. The pipe is made from a variety of materials, including steel, concrete, and plastic. The pipe is also available in a variety of sizes and can be custom-made to meet the needs of the project. ASTM A252 Grade 3 pipe is an essential part of many projects, thanks to its ability to provide a stable base that meets international quality standards.

Chemical Composition of ASTM A252 Grade 3 Steel Piling Pipe

When ordering ASTM A252 Grade 3 steel pipes, it is quite important to have a chemical analysis performed in order to ensure that the pipes meet the required specifications. The chemical analysis shall be performed in accordance with the test methods, practices, and terminology specified in ASTM A751. In order to verify that the pipes meet the required specifications, it is permissible for the buyer to make product analyses using 2 samples from each heat lot of pipe piles. By performing chemical analysis, the buyer can be assured that the steel pipes ordered will meet the necessary requirements.

Mechanical Properties of ASTM A252 Grade 3 Piling pipe

The ASTM A252 Grade 3 pipes must meet the tension requirements specified in the tables below. The yield point is the drop of the beam, the stop of the dial on the testing machine, the use of dividers, or other approved methods. If there is no definite yield point, determine the yield strength corresponding to a 0.2% permanent offset of the specimen’s gauge length or a 0.5% total extension under load. The method used to measure yield strength shall be recorded. Yield strength is measured in pounds per square inch (psi) and is expressed to the nearest 10 psi. If more than one test specimen is submitted, averages may be reported.

  • According to the standard, each length of ASTM A252 Grade 3 pipe pile must be weighed separately. The weight must not vary more than 15% over or 5% under its theoretical weight, which is calculated using the pipe’s length and weight per unit length. If the purchase order does not specify a weight, the manufacturer must ensure the pipe still conforms to this calculation formula.
  • The outside diameter of pipe piles shall not deviate from the required outside diameter by more than 1%.
  • At no point shall the wall thickness deviate by more than 12.5% below the nominal wall thickness.
