ASTM A135 Grade B
The steel grade ASTM A135 Grade B is utilized for Electric-Resistance-Welded (ERW) steel pipes for conveying gas, vapor, water, or other liquid, it is also commonly used in fire-fighting applications. The chemical and mechanical qualities of ASTM A135 Grade B pipes make them appropriate for high-pressure applications, including the transport of gas, vapor, water, and other fluids. In certain nations, ASTM A135 Grade B pipes are also utilized as fire sprinkler pipes. Only Grade B pipes are not designed for flanging and bending, according to the standard.
ASTM A135 is a standard specification for electric-resistance-welded steel pipe. The pipe is intended for conveying gas, vapor, water, or other liquid. Grade A pipe is the standard grade, while, Grade B pipe is the higher-strength alternative. The weld seam of electric-resistance welded pipe to Grade B pipe shall be heat treated after welding or processed in such a manner that no untempered martensite remains. This requirement helps to ensure that the finished pipe will have superior strength and ductility. In addition, the heat treatment helps to prevent corrosion of the weld seam. ASTM A135 is an important specification for those who need a high-quality, durable pipe for their critical applications.

Specifications of ASTM A135 Grade B
The American Society for Testing and Materials A135 Grade B covers ERW steel pipe in sizes NPS 2 to 30, with nominal (average) wall thickness up to 12.7mm, inclusive, and in nominal sizes NPS 3/4 to 5 with a nominal (average) wall thickness of 2.11mm to 3.40mm, depending on size. The standard contains a comprehensive listing of ASTM A135 standardized pipe dimensions that are contained in ASME B36.10M.
