Important reasons for checking the quality of steel pipes
a. To be able to determine the capacity of the pipe in its construction.
b. It can accurately estimate the cost of the project.
c. Aids in checking whether the product is acceptable or not
d. Optimize project efficiency and safety.
Method 2: Formula calculator- weight of steel pipe pre foot
The weight of the steel pipe = 0.25* PI* (OD²-ID²)* L* steel specifi gravity
PI=3.14
L=steel tube length
This formula calculates the weight of Steel pipe and PVC pipe.
Average density of pipes made of different materials (PVC pipe density/Carbon Steel pipe per foot density/Stainless steel pipe density/ stainless steel tube weight calculator)
| Matériau | Density (g/cm) |
|---|---|
| PVC | 1.45 |
| Pure iron | 7.86 |
| Wrought iron | 7.75 |
| Carbon steel pipe weight | 7.84 |
| Acier doux | 7.88 |
| Acier inoxydable | 8.03 |
| Aluminium | 2.7 |
| Brass | 8.5 |
| Cuivre | 8.96 |
Notes:
Outer Diameter (OD): The length of the widest distance across the outer surface of the pipe.
Inner Diameter (ID): The inner width of the pipe.
Wall Thickness: Wall thickness of the pipe
Length: The longest distance from one end of the pipe to the other.
If you don’t know that many parameters, then it is recommended that you use the following formula:
Seamless and welded steel pipe weight calculation:
W = 0.0246616* S ( OD- S )
Example: want to buy an api 5l welded steel pipe with an OD of 5inch (127mm), Thickness is SCH 40 (6.55mm) and length is 12 meters.
W=6.55*(127-6.55)*0.0246616=19.46kg/m
Notes:
S = pipe wall thickness
Inch-foot conversion: 1 inches = 25.4mm = 8 british cents
