The main composition of acier doux is 98 to 99 percent iron and 0.05 to 0.25 percent carbon. This chemical composition gives it good toughness and high strength.

Mild steel’s exceptionally low carbon content makes it suitable for pipe welding, cutting and forming. Small amounts of manganese, sulfur, silicon and other chemical elements are added to improve material properties. As a low-cost steel with low raw material costs and a simple production process, it has a promising future in most construction and manufacturing industries.
