The advantage of using low alloy carbon steel for black gas piping is its excellent mechanical strength to withstand the high temperatures and pressures that gas transportation systems require. More importantly, it is weldable, allowing for seamless welding with other piping systems. However, black gas pipes without surface coating also have the disadvantage of poor corrosion performance.
