What Is Low Carbon Steel
What is low carbon steel? Low carbon steel, also known as soft steel, its carbon content is strictly controlled below 0.25% (some standards extend to 0.30%), microstructure to ferrite and a small amount of pearlite-based.
Low Carbon Steel Chemical Composition and Properties
Low carbon steel chemical composition is composed of
Carbon (C): 0.08%-0.25%
Manganese (Mn): 0.30%-0.90%
Silicon (Si): ≤ 0.40%
Phosphorus (P), sulfur (S): ≤ 0.045%
Among them, the manganese element can refine the grain and improve the strength, while the low sulfur and phosphorus content helps to improve the welding performance.
